Parents Of Boys Who Fell Through Skylight Intend To Sue
POSTED: Friday, March 24, 2006
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- The parents of two boys who fell almost 30 feet through a skylight in an abandoned warehouse intend to sue the owners of that abandoned building.
The parents believe Pan American Sites did not do a good enough job in preventing the boys from entering the property.
The boys were playing around and jumping on a skylight in the roof of an abandoned warehouse near Sample Road earlier this month when it gave way, sending them plummeting onto a concrete floor.
Devon Manhold, 11, has been released from the hospital, but Quincey Littles, 10, remains at Broward General Medical Center in fair condition.
Police said the boys sneaked onto the property of the abandoned building, once used to manufacture park equipment, through a sheet metal fence that appeared to be pried open.
Firefighters said the warehouse had been secured so well that they had to break down a fence in order to reach the boys after the accident.
The property owner was not at fault, according to police.
Pan American Sites said the property was secured.
