Oil Spill Threatens Miami Beach
Coast Guard Estimates That 500 Gallons Leaked Into Ocean
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- An oil spill continues to threaten some South Florida beaches.

The slick is about three miles long and is off 47th Street in Miami Beach. At this point, it's within a couple of miles of shore.
The Coast Guard says that the slick came from the freighter called the Argentinian Reefer that may have dumped fuel oil from an overfilled tank.
They estimate about 500 gallons may have gone into the water. The wind and seas are pushing it north and east, but the Coast Guard says that it could still come ashore.
