BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies said Wednesday that three handguns owned by Lionel Tate's mother are missing.
Investigators searched the Pembroke Park home of Kathleen Grossett-Tate as part of an investigation following the arrest of Lionel Tate in connection to an alleged armed robbery on Monday.
Broward Crime Stoppers announced a $1,000 reward Wednesday for information leading to the safe recovery of the three guns.
According to BSO investigators, Grossett-Tate is missing a .40-caliber Beretta semiautomatic handgun -- Grossett-Tate's Florida Highway Patrol service weapon, a 9 mm Taurus Millennium semiautomatic handgun and a .357-caliber revolver.
Grossett-Tate is an FHP trooper. Highway Patrol spokesman Maj. Ernie Duarte said an internal investigation had been launched into the missing service weapon, which is state property. Duarte said regulations require such weapons be secured.
Grossett-Tate, also a member of the National Guard, has been on military leave from the Highway Patrol since early 2004, Duarte said.
Deputies rearrested Tate Monday in the armed robbery of a Domino’s Pizza deliveryman and for violating his probation.
Tate is being
held without bond. A judge overruled objections by his attorney that there was conflicting evidence that led to charges that Tate attempted to rob a pizza delivery man.
