UPDATED: 6:29 am EDT May 3, 2006

Rescuers responded to a junkyard fire at 3390 Northwest 127th Street on Tuesday afternoon.

The junkyard was filled with cars and tires.

Local 10's Roger Lohse said the fire appeared to have started on a rack of old car engines.

Miami-Dade fire-rescue said the junkyard was occupied with workers. One person was burned and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. His condition was not known.

Firefighters at first seemed to have problems getting running water to the hoses, but were eventually able to douse the flames.
