Partial Roof Collapse Closes FIU Parking Garage

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. -- The decorative edge of a roof on a parking garage at Florida International University broke off and fell to the ground, causing the garage to be closed Wednesday afternoon.The 30-foot overhang fell from the roof of the six-story garage, but fortunately, school officials said that no one was injured in the incident.The parking garage is closed, but those who have cars in the garage are being allowed to move their vehicles.Inspectors will be checking out what caused the overhang to fall, but FIU officials said that the main structure is not in jeopardy.
