8-Year-Old Shark Attack Victim Heads Home

Doctors Believe Boy Will Do Better At Home

After spending six weeks in a Florida hospital, Jesse Arbogast is back home in Mississippi.

The 8-year-old boy was attacked by a 7-foot bull shark in the waters off a Pensacola beach.

The shark tore into his thigh and bit off his right arm above the elbow. The arm was reattached.

According to his doctor, Arbogast has made dramatic strides in his recovery.

"Jesse has shown some oral motor movement," Dr. Tim Livingston said. "(His) wounds ... healed to the point where they're no longer at the risk of infection, they no longer require intensive dressing changes."

Doctors say they aren't sure how long Arbogast's recovery will take or how far he can progress, but they believe being at home will do him more good then being in a hospital.
