Miami Doctors Hope To Save Teen With Half Heart

MIAMI -- A 13-year-old girl is in Miami hoping to have the surgery that could save her life.
Bolivian doctors repeatedly canceled surgery to correct Jhenny Vargas' life-threatening heart defect because of a lack of equipment, personnel or beds available at the hospital.
The International Kids Fund hopes to finally get the 13-year-old girl the surgery she needs at Holtz Children's Hospital in Miami. The charity is trying to raise $65,000 for care here that is not available in Bolivia.
The right half of Jhenny's heart never developed properly, and she is now cyanotic or "blue" because a limited amount of blood is going to her lungs. Doctors say she could die if the condition is left untreated.
Jhenny's older sister says the ailment meant the girl could not go to school in Bolivia, and could not walk without help.
The International Kids Fund seeks to provide medical care to needy children from around the world. Tax-deductible donations in Jhenny's name can be made online
