MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Floridians and visitors are often a bit nervous about being attacked by sharp-toothed predators while swimming in the ocean -- but Tuesday, a man needed medical care after a very bizarre attack.
The man was swimming off Miami Beach Tuesday morning near 4th Street and Ocean Drive when he says a pit bull charged into the water and bit him.
After the attack, the man said the dog and his owner took off.
Miami Beach Fire Rescue workers treated the man at the beach. He is expected to be OK.
The dog and its owner where no where to be found.
Pit bulls are illegal in Miami-Dade County. An owner can be fined $500 and have the dog confiscated.
