PEMBORKE PINES, Fla. -- Police said two men who robbed the First Bank on South Flamingo Road on Thursday foiled their own crime when they dropped most, if not all, of the money while making their getaway.
According to police, two men -- one of them dressed in a business suit and tie -- entered the bank at about 9:45 a.m. and told one of the two tellers to hand over all their cash. Police said one of the men revealed a silver chrome handgun.
"She complied, gave him money, (and) they fled from the bank," Pembroke Pines police Cmdr. David Golt said. "They were last seen running through the rear of the shopping plaza, at which time they actually dropped the money."
Golt said police did an extensive search for the men by ground and air, but they were not caught.
