MIAMI -- Professional tennis player Anna Kournikova visited a South Florida elementary school on Tuesday to help get students motivated for National Recess Week.
The weeklong program is part of the Cartoon Network's Get Animated initiative, a campaign to help children to be more active and healthy.
As part of National Recess Week, students from 25 elementary schools in South Florida and 200 schools across the nation strived to break the Guinness World Record for Largest Simultaneous Four Square Game.
Kournikova joined students from Eneida Massas Hartner Elementary School as they began playing four square at noon in the record attempt. The tennis pro supported the students, encouraged them to exercise more and even played with them.
"I want to share all those things, what the sport gave me, I want to share it with the kids and encourage them to stay active, be outside. Nowadays, with all the video games and all the Internet things and everything, it's a little hard to get them outside and be active," Kournikova said.
In addition to the record, 10 schools in the U.S. will receive a $10,000 grant. The winners of the grants will be announced by the end of the week.
