Dolphins Place Ferguson On IR

(Sports Network) - The Miami Dolphins placed defensive tackle Jason Ferguson on injured reserve with a quad injury, the club announced Tuesday.

Ferguson was hurt during the second half of last Thursday's game against Carolina. The 13-year veteran was in his second season with Miami. He had 23 tackles, including 15 solo, this year.

Also on Tuesday, the team signed cornerback Evan Oglesby and defensive end Ikeaika Alma-Francis and released linebacker Matt Roth and safety Nate Ness.

Oglesby played in nine games for the Ravens in 2008, recording 14 tackles. The North Alabama product has tallied 35 tackles in 36 career games over four seasons with Baltimore and Dallas.

Alma-Francis, the 58th overall choice of the Lions in the 2007 draft, had 35 tackles and one sack in 19 games (two starts) with Detroit over two seasons.

Roth appeared in four games for Miami this year, recording four tackles. In 65 career games with the Dolphins, the Iowa product had 157 tackles, including 121 solo, and 12 1/2 sacks.
