DORAL, Fla. -- Golf fans from across the world have come to South Florida to watch some of the best golfers play in the CA Championship and each fan has a favorite.“I would like to see some of these long hitters” said Richard Metz. “To see Phil Mickelson,” said Richard Bruce.“My son is going for Mickelson,” said Paul Jenner.The defending champ seemed to be an overwhelming favorite among fans. “I was hoping Tiger Woods was going to be here, but he is obviously not,” Jenner said. “I did see VJ Sing yesterday and it was like wow, he was a lot taller than I thought he would be,” said Fernando Magri.To kick off the first round of play, the military was honored at hole one and given free passes to Thursday's game.“It’s great that people around here are so hospitable when they do come out and recognize us,” said Magri.With the score board at even, fans hoped the weather would clear for a great day of golf.“It should be a little sunnier for a day like this,” Bruce said.
