PITTSBURGH, Penn. -- A Pittsburgh magistrate has ordered Florida Marlins backup catcher Ramon Castro to stand trial on rape charges.
Pittsburgh police arrested Castro after a 28-year-old woman accused him of assaulting and raping her in a hotel room Aug. 28.
The woman said she met Castro at a nightclub in the city's Strip District and went to his room at the Westin Convention Center Hotel early in the morning.
Castro is charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, sexual assault and unlawful restraint, but is being allowed to remain free until trial. No trial date has been set yet.
Castro, who is married and has two daughters, denies the allegation.
He was not on Marlins roster during the postseason when they won the World Series.
