Jimmy Cefalo

Jimmy Cefalo is a familiar face to many in the South Florida community from his years on Local 10 News. He is also a familiar figure from the gridiron as a former member of the Miami Dolphins.

Jimmy joined Local 10 in October 1992 as the host of Sports Monday. Since then he has become both the Sports Director and Sports Anchor for Local 10 News Monday through Friday. During football season he also assumes hosting duties on Sports Jam Live.

Jimmy cites working on Sports Jam as his favorite part of work here at Local 10.

Originally from Pittston, Penn., Jimmy holds a long list of impressive career credentials from both on and off the field. During his years playing for the Dolphins, he scored the second longest touchdown in Super Bowl history during Super Bowl XVII, against the Washington Redskins. In his broadcast career, he was a correspondent for NBC news on the "Today Show", sports anchor for "NBC News at Sunrise" and co-host of the 1988 Olympic games in Seoul. Jimmy also co-hosted "PM Magazine," "AM South Florida," on WTVJ and hosted the "Trump Card" game show distributed by Warner Brothers Television.

In 1988, Jimmy snared an Emmy for his writing on the 24th Olympic Games. And fives times, National Sportscasters and Sportwriters Association named him Florida Sportscaster of the Year (1998, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004).

Jimmy laid the groundwork for his awards and career by earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism at Penn State University.

When he's not busy chronicling all the goings on in the sports world, Jimmy enjoys spending time with his wife Janice, and his three daughters: Mia, who was born in 1997, and twins, Ava and Katie, born in 2001.
