MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- A new iPhone application allows potential cosmetic surgery patients to see what they could look like post-op, without ever going under the knife.

iSurgeon is one of the latest applications available to iPhone users.

Miami Beach plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer created the program. iSurgeon gives users a glimpse of what they would look like with movie star features with the touch of a finger.

"All you do is use the camera on your phone to take a picture. Then glide your finger over the phone's screen to increase or decrease your features. You can then save the finished product, e-mail it to yourself or friends or upload it on Facebook," Salzhauer said.

Salzhauer got the idea for iSurgeon three months ago. While he knows it will get a lot of laughs among users, he hopes it will also bring in clients.

"There are a lot of people who have wondered what they would look like if their perceived 'trouble spots' were changed but have been nervous about coming into the office. This application will help them inform themselves and then if they're interested, seek out a certified plastic surgeon to continue the conversation," he said.

Salzhauer said the program was inspired by Adobe Photoshop, the same computer technology he uses in his consultations. As with Photoshop, iPhone users can digitally tweak any body part, save the picture and bring it in to him.

"Consultations can take up to three hours. iSurgeon only takes a few minutes and can be done in private," said Salzhauer.

It begs the question, will all this cyber nip-tucking lead to a more vanity-driven world where virtual beauty beats out natural beauty? Salzhauer doesn't think so.

"I do think that for those people who have wanted to make that step but were nervous, this feature will help them," he said. "I don't think plastic surgery will ever be as popular as getting a haircut."

iSurgeon will be available to buy online at the Apple store the last week of November. The program costs $1.99.
