West Palm Beach, Fla. -- Something doesn’t smell quite right at Palm Beach International Airport, and a certain policy at the security checkpoints may be to blame.
The airport’s director said security personnel are complaining of certain odors in the carpet in the areas where the security gates are located.
The director suggested it may be because it’s the same spot where, day after day, hundreds of people are forced to take off their shoes in order to go through security.
So far that idea, and the actual cause of the smell, have not been connected.
A plan is already in the works to remove all the carpeting in the airport and replace it with tile.
