In Miami-Dade County, an area of Hialeah was damaged by what may have been a tornado.

A tornado warning had been issued for northeastern Miami-Dade County after Hialeah residents reported seeing a funnel cloud in the area. The tornado warning expired at 3:30 p.m.

A tornado appeared to have touched down at a tire shop near West 21st Street and First Avenue, ripping part of the roof off. It then appeared to have headed northeast.

Shingles were torn off roofs and debris could be seen strewn about, but Hialeah police said no injuries were reported.

About 40 families living in one Hialeah apartment complex were forced from their homes as a result.

Florida Power & Light said 5,000 customers in Miami-Dade County and parts of south Broward County were without electricity as a result of the storm.
