Waterspout Caught On Camera In Key West

KEY WEST, Fla. -- The National Weather Service said a waterspout moved onshore over the northwest side of Key West on Monday afternoon and then went back over water.Meteorologist Matt Strahan said when a waterspout crosses over onto land it becomes a tornado. The waterspout moved over land a little after 4 p.m. Monday.Monroe County Sheriff's Office Director Becky Herrin shot images of the waterspout from her window.Herrin said it appeared that the waterspout was near the causeway at the naval base near North Roosevelt Boulevard in Key West.The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said there were no immediate reports of damages.Storms hit the Lower Keys in the late afternoon, and the National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning at 4 p.m.
