New Tropical Depression Forms In Eastern Caribbean

Tropical depression fifteen formed in the eastern Caribbean on Monday morning.

At 11 a.m., the center of the newly-formed depression was located about 340 miles southwest of San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is moving toward the northwest near 2 mph.

According to the National Hurricane Center, little significant motion is expected during the next 24 to 36 hours. A northeastward motion is forecast to begin on Wednesday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast and the depression could become a tropical storm later today.
